RIP Alexander McQueen

I cannot claim to have been a follower of Alexander Mcqueen and neither did I know much about him. But the tragic news of his death last week prompted me to find out more.
Crowned 'British Designer of the Year' four times between 1996 and 2003, it is commonly thought that McQueen's defining moment was the resurection of the 'bumster' jean, in the 90's.
I think the most character defining report I have read so far is the story about him sewing 'I am a c**t' into the sleeve lining of Prince Charles' suit. Hilarious!

I saw this stunning dress by Giles Deacon in a magazine interview recently. It is made entirely from rosettes of black fabric.
Deacon, who is renowned for his use of materials said he was particularly proud of this dress because it proved to him that his team had the ability to create something so technical. It's nice to know that even a genius of Deacon's stature is still challenged sometimes!
